Biography

Nicole was raised in Germany but spent most of her adult life in London and Los Angeles. She received her BSc and a Masters in International Relations from the London School of Economics, worked for Reuters News and on independent films. She just completed her MFA in Directing & Cinematography at the UCLA School of Theater, Film & Television.
    Nicole’s thesis film "The Death Strip" won the College Television Award for Best Drama (Student Emmy), a Directors Guild of America Best Student Filmmaker Award, the Gold Circle Award for Outstanding Student Film from the Caucus for Producers, Writers and Directors Foundation, the Emerging Cinematographers Award from the International Cinematographers Guild and was the recipient of the Alfred P. Sloan Directing Fellowship and the Technicolor Thesis Grant among others. Beyond making films, she has also directed theater for the Francis Ford Coppola One Act Play Festival. 

Nicole just premiered her feature documentary "Little Joe" at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Film Information & Synopsis

East Berlin 1980, Mike (11) and his family attempt an escape across what was known as the Death Strip to West Berlin.

The film was shot on location in Berlin, Germany and Los Angeles.

It was partly financed by the Technicolor Thesis Award, the Alfred P. Sloan Directing Fellowship, the Edie and Lew Wasserman Fellowship and the Caucus for Producers, Writers & Directors Foundation Grant among others.

Festival Experience

Mill Valley, Palm Springs ShortsFest, Raindance, Ford Lauderdale and various others. My favorite festival was Mill Valley by far. The audience was great. Palm Springs was fun too.
