Biography

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and raised by a single mother who has a passion for the arts, she encouraged Michael to follow his heart and pursue his dream as a filmmaker. At Hampton University, Michael was able to travel and study in the South Pacific where he began his journey as a visual storyteller. Soon after graduating from Hampton, Michael was accepted into the prestigious University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts.

In his first year at USC, he wrote and directed “Jazz Singer,” which premiered at the Arizona Black Film Showcase. He has also produced the acclaimed short film “Last Exit” which was written and directed my Nicola Marsh. Michael has completed his thesis film “Brothers Incorporated” which he shot in his hometown Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

“Brothers Incorporated” received The Caucus Foundation Student Production Finishing Grant in December 2008, and the film was completed January 2009. “Incorporated” has also won Best Student Short, at The Hayti Heritage Film Festival in North Carolina, Best Short Film at The Detroit Windsor Film Festival in Michigan, and was an HBO finalist for the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival in Massachusetts.

Michael is currently working on his first feature film, which will go into pre-production spring 2010.
