Biography

Native Detroit Filmmaker Ka’ramuu (pronounced kah-rah-moo) is a director / writer with
roots in the New York theatre. He has directed 10 short films to date with his work as an actor and/or director touring internationally in over 20 film festivals including Cannes, Sundance, Hamptons, Tribeca, and LA Film Festival. In addition to directing a number of productions for the stage, he has coached actors for major network TV, film, Off Broadway and Regional theatre. Kush holds his BFA in Literature, Writing and The Arts from The New School University, MFA in Classical Drama from Sarah Lawrence College and MFA in Film Directing from the prestigious AFI Conservatory where he was a Daniel J. Petrie Scholar. Consistently performing amongst the top of his class while at AFI, he garnered the Frances Williams Artists Grant and Hewlett Packard Scholarship. For his direction of the AFI thesis film SALVATION ROAD he is the recipient of the Fujifilm Production Grant, The Caucus Foundation Grant, The Caucus Foundation Gold Circle Award and DGA Jury Prize for Directing. In addition, he is a Lincoln Center Director’s Lab Alum, New Federal Theatre Artistic Associate and 2nd Stage Theatre Van Lier Directing Fellow. Newspaper reviews, Magazine and online publications include Black Masks, American Theatre, Showbusiness Weekly, Backstage, Houston Press, Amsterdam News, St Louis Today, Michigan Chronicle and American Cinematographer.

In addition to SUITE, he is also developing a 2nd feature length project entitled WNTD: THE SIS and a cable series entitled SOLOMON.
